Obituary for
Elry Joseph Goodly Sr.
On September 3, 1928 God blessed the late Fulton and Eve Toussaint Goodly with the birth of their son Elry Joseph Goodly, Sr. Elry was lovingly known as "Black" to close family members and childhood friends. On Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:53 AM heaven called this faithful servant home to crown him with his glorious eternal reward.
A man of great faith, integrity, and love Elry lived the richest of lives. In 1951 he was blessed with the birth of his first born, Thomas Goodly. Later he met, fell in love with, and married Geraldine Sonnier. From this union of 51 years eight children were born. His love and devotion to his family and friends can be attested to by anyone who knew him.
As it was with everything he set his mind to, Elry excelled as a hunter, fisherman, and self made chef. He was a natural in the kitchen preparing savoring dishes for his family and whoever happened to "Drop-In." His mouth watering gumbo, roast, rice dressing, and barbecue recipes were family favorites. His greatest pleasure wasn''t in the preparation of the meal but in watching others enjoy it.
Elry was extremely gifted in understanding mechanical matters. This gift coupled with his strong work ethic and congenial manner made him a valued employee of Firestone Polymers for 37 years.
Elry was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, sons; Elry Jr., and Gary, his parents; Fulton and Eve, and siblings; Milton, Ardy, Nolton, and Octavia.
