Judy Annette Bastidas (Richard)
Judy Richard Bastidas, 70, formerly Judy Annette Richard passed away in her home on Thursday August 21, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. Judy was born on April 18, 1944 in Church Point, LA to Remi Joseph Richard, Sr. and Reva Myrtle Boudreaux Richard.
Judy was a loving wife. After marrying she moved to San Francisco, California and was embraced by the entire Bastidas family. She lived there for 17 years sharing her love of life with many in-laws and friends before moving back to Sulphur, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was dearly loved by all that knew her. She had a giving spirit and was very generous of her time to others, hence her nickname within the family as “Mother Teresa”. She was a hairdresser for 34 years at Jackie’s Hair Styling in Lake Charles. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur where she served with the Ladies Altar Society and as a Eucharistic minister.
Judy is preceded in death by both her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years, George E. Bastidas, two daughters, Jessica Nunez-Orr and husband Kenneth of Katy, TX, and Monette Istre and husband David of Katy, TX; six brothers, Remi Richard Jr. of Lake Charles, Reynold Richard, Jude Richard and John Richard of Church Point, Douglas Richard of Maine, and Dwight Richard of New Hampshire; eight sisters, Bonnie LaBauve of New Iberia, Lynn Pavich of Eunice, Elizabeth Horecky of Church Point, Christine Beinvenu of Lafayette, Louise Clayton, of Church Point, Phyllis Sloat of New Hampshire, Myrtle O’Neal of Church Point, and Denise Pease of Maine; nine grandchildren, Courtney and Thomas Nunez, Trent and Chance Orr, Brittany Jacobs, Allison, Brian, and Lydia Istre; six great grandsons, one great grand daughter and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 1 PM until 9 PM in the Chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 9 AM until 11 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22, 2014 at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A scripture service will be held in the Chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home at 6 PM on August 22, 2014. A rosary will be prayed immediately after by Ladies Altar Society of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
