Obituary for Ethel Lee Mele (Powe)

Ethel Lee Mele, 93, a resident of Lake Charles, passed peacefully from this life to the next on December 21, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Ethel will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was her families rock and raised her children and grandchildren faithfully in the way of her Lord and Savior. Ethel was generous to a fault. Her kindness, loving and fun nature, intellect and strength were all things she passed on to her children and grandchildren. When not tending her to her family’s needs, she was spent her time cooking and gardening. She is credited by her family for her dedication, love, and compassion to her husband, Dan, during his illness.

Ethel is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Mele Sr.; parents, Batiste Powe and Mathilda Enterkin Powe, and two brothers, Nick and Larry Powe.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her three sons; Daniel Joseph Mele, Jr. (Sharon Thorn), Timothy Scott Mele (Darlene Schatzle), and Patrick Moran Mele (Melissa Suydam); siblings, Jerry Powe, Melvin Powe, Cecil Burrmann, Joann Andrews, and Billie Clary; nine loving grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on December 23, 2021, at Prien Memorial Park. Pastor Shawn Dugas is to officiate. Burial will follow immediately after the service.
