Obituary for Annie Romero

Annie Mae Miller Romero, 80, a resident of Lake Charles, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 15, 2021, surrounded by her family. Annie was born on December 9, 1940, in Sulphur, LA, to Lawrence Clifford Miller and Amelia DuBois Tunks.

Annie was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Romero was totally devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and loved animals. Annie operated Ann’s Poodle Palace for many years, the remainder of the time she spent caring for her husband and three children. She will be forever remembered for her work ethic especially working side by side with her husband. Still, most importantly, she was known for her unwavering faith and earned the title of “Prayer Warrior.”

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Lee “Shorty” Romero, and two sisters, Marie Pate and Jessie Sallier.

Annie leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters; Vicky O'Meara of Lake Charles and Carol Stafford of Youngsville, son; Tony Lee Romero of Youngsville, grandchildren; Rachael Smith, Jeremy Wilson (Erin), David and Nicholas Lawson, Christopher Oneal (Christina), Amanda Cazedessus (Nathaniel), and Krystal Champagne (Buddy), and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 19, 2021, in the sanctuary of Lake City Baptist Church from 11:00 AM until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Lakeside Funeral Home. Rev. George Rodriguez is to officiate.
