Obituary for Derrell Wayne Smith Jr.
Derrell Wayne Smith, Jr., 24, a resident of Lake Charles, passed from this life on April 7, 2021.
Junior, as he was best known, was a loving son, brother, grandson, and nephew. He was gifted with great mechanical ability and loved tinkering with anything mechanical. Junior could take apart and repair anything mechanical. He was an avid fisherman and loved being in the outdoors. He will be forever remembered for his giving nature, love of life and lived everyday to its fullest.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sandra Sanders, and aunt, Lisa Smith.
He is survived by his parents Derrell Wayne Smith, Sr., and Kim Sanders Smith; sister, Kayla Smith; grandparents, Derrell Wendell Smith, and Deanna Duhon Smith, and Gregory Sanders; aunts, Sherry Smith, Ashely Smith and fiance’ Miguel Mesa, Monica Abshire, and Michelle Sanders; uncle, James Sanders, and a host of cousins and friends he made on life’s journey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 11, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the chapel of Johnson and Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 12, 2021, in the chapel of Johnson and Brown Funeral Home in Iowa from 9:00 AM until the time of Service at 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at New Ritchie Cemetery.
