Obituary

Walter Lynn Allen, 77, a resident of Sulphur, LA, passed from this life on December 19, 2020, surrounded by his loving daughters.

Walter will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be fondly remembered for his charismatic personality and ability to connect with people on a very personal level. He was a retail manager for many years and refined his ability to sell products and services with ease. Walter was a talented musician and could play any instrument and learned these instruments by ear. He loved writing, singing, and playing swamp-pop and oldies. He mastered mimicking famous musicians such as Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, and Fats Domino. He played in bands such as the GTO’s and Louisiana Express. Until his death, Mr. Allen loved to reminisce about his youth growing up on the farm in Pleasant Hill, LA.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Clara Anderson Allen; children, Laurie Butler, Melissa Lynn Jeffers, and Barry Lang Butler.

Mr. Allen is survived by his two loving daughters; Shannon Leigh LeDoux and husband Richie and Danielle Allen; grandchildren, Amber Bastible, Alex Butler, Haily LeDoux, Kelsea Allen, Caleb Langley, Joshua LeDoux, and Kyle Langley; siblings, Barbara Kelley, Jan Whitley and husband Billy, and Kenny Allen.

The family will receive friends on December 23, 2020, in the chapel of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM. Pastor Terry Ardizzone is to officiate. Visitation will continue after the service until 8:00 PM.
