Russell was one of the kindest people I have ever known. My husband and I met him at First Baptist Church Moss Bluff in the 90s. He became a dear friend. We would spend time swimming in his pool, having supper together after church, or taking a ride in his model A he had restored that he was so proud of. He even took a summer road trip with us in 2000 to New Braunfels, Texas. Every time we saw Russell he would thank us for giving him his little dog Tippy, which we rescued from the pet shelter. He was also the most patriotic man I ever met. We definitely know he is with the Lord whom he loved so much and are so glad he is now free from pain. We love him dearly and he will be greatly missed.

I only met Russ a few years ago when he moved into the Verandah. He became not only a resident, but I was proud to call him a good friend of mine. I do take comfort in knowing he's with the Lord now and in a much better place than here on Earth. I'll miss the evenings when he used to come down to the lobby from his apartment to shoot the breeze. We'd talk baseball. He was a Houston Astros fan, as I am. Or sometimes we'd order a pizza or look up old vehicles from the 1950s on the internet. Russ was one of the most popular of the residents at the Verandah. I never heard an unkind word about him. Rest in peace, my friend.
