Obituary for David Riley
David Britten Riley, 61, a resident of Westlake, LA passed from this life on January 20, 2020 in a local care facility after a long illness.
David was a loving father, grandfather, son, and friend. He was a friendly soul, loved joking, pranking others, loved children and helping other people. He was a construction millwright for the majority of his life and loved spending time on the water fishing. David traveled and worked around the country with his sons, being not only a dad, but a best friend, teaching them countless trades, crafts, skills, and life lessons.
Mr. Riley is preceded in death by his father, Jonthan Pryor Riley, siblings: Richard Leonard “Dick” Riley and Kenneth Gene Riley.
David leaves to cherish his memory his two sons: Davis “Brandon” Bithen McCollum of Toledo Bend, LA and Johnathan Riley of Lake Charles, the mother of his children; Angela Turner, mother; Sarah “ Sally” Henson and her husband Sammy Neil Henson, siblings: Derek Riley of Lakeview, OR and Dee Dee Riley Combs of Westlake, LA, grandchildren: David Evan and Ashlin McCollum, and Isabella Riley, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2020 in the sanctuary of Bellview Baptist Church in Westlake at 2:00 PM. Bro. Oliver McGuire is to officiate. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. Mr. Riley’s cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home.
