Obituary for Jeffery Dale Smiley
Jeffery Dale Smiley passed from this life on December 23, 2019 in a Lafayette hospital at the age of 56.
“Smiley” as he was known by almost everyone was a loving and adoring husband and grandfather. He loved fishing and working in his yard. Jeffery’s last name fit him well as he always had a smile on his face and a warm welcoming personality. Smiley was generous to a fault and took great personal pride in providing for his family. He loved being a pipefitter and spending long workdays with his work family. He loved cooking and listening to music in his spare time.
Mr. Smiley is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann Derouen Terrel and brother, Llyod Fontenot.
Jeffery leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandi Desormeaux Smiley, stepdaughter; Tessa Martin and husband Matt, grandchildren; Wade, Wyatt, and Mattly Martin, father; Wayne Smiley and wife Debbie, sisters; Kathy, Cindy, and Connie, and his nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. As per his wishes, Mr. Smiley will be cremated following the service.
