Obituary for Anthony Tait Tait Collins
Anthony Tait Collins “Taiter” was a lifelong resident of Sportsman’s Paradise, and to be honest I don't think he would have had it any other way. However, life in paradise isn't always duck blinds and fishing holes. He was a fun-loving daredevil of a child who grew into a great father and avid hunter and fishermen.
Tait lived life to the fullest always enjoyed a good time and a stiff drink. He was a loving daddy, who never failed to say “I love you”. Those who knew Tait loved his infectious, cocky grin and sarcastic wisecracks, always fun to be around. He spent many a day on the water with a fishing pole in his hand, tackle box at his feet, and a full ice chest - in case he caught something worth keeping. He spent his winter months sitting in a deer stand chasing that elusive 10-point white tail. Tait’s favorite sport was baseball, he was quick to point out his Grand Lake High School team went undefeated. He shared this love of baseball with his boys. He encouraged the future football players he was raising and spent many Saturdays at McNeese Stadium cheering on the Cowboys with his family - after a quick trip to Frosty Factory, of course.
To carry on his legacy, he leaves his Taiter Tots: Bryce Tait Collins and Ashton Blayne Collins; along with Ashley Collins; father, Tony Collins and wife Becky; sister, Mika Collins; brother, Tyler Collins and wife Alexis; nieces Myah Collins and Ameile Collins; grandparents, Ray and Reba Collins; Sasha Yates, Casey Colter; and a host of aunts, uncles, and extended family. Tait is preceded in death by his mother Melinda Breland and maternal grandparents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 4:00 PM until time of service. A celebration of Taits Life will follow on March 1, 2019 at 6:00 PM. Tait’s cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
We respectfully ask that in lieu of flowers you take a few minutes to jot down your favorite memory of or with Tait and bring it with you or send an email to MemoriesOfTait@gmail.com. We will ask for volunteers to read their memories aloud in place of a formal service. Our hope is that these memories will offer solace to his sons and family through the long and difficult journey ahead. Please wear your favorite LSU/polo shirt and jeans, Tait hated formal events, and this is in his memory.
