Obituary for Joseph Robert Roy

Joseph Robert Roy, 91, a resident of Lake Charles, LA passed from this life into the next on November 28, 2018 in his residence.

J. Robert Roy as he was best known was born in Eunice, LA and spent the majority of his life in the Lake Charles area. He served with honor in the United States Navy during the Second World War and was a Millwright until his retirement and later became a Poker Dealer at a local casino. In his spare time Mr. Roy loved playing Bouree’, going to the gym, keeping up with current events, and working in his yard and vegetable garden. He took great pride in his family and will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Roy was a man of strong faith and until his illness he was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

Mr. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, George and Therese Miller Roy, wife, Minnie Fontenot Roy, daughters, Valda Meche and Patricia Roy Richard, brothers, James W. Roy and Russell Roy.

He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his precious memory, his daughters, Donna Hartstock and husband Michael of Moss Bluff, Robyn Richardson and husband Craig of Sulphur, son, Kermit Roy and wife Cecilia of San Diego, CA, a special son-in-law Mike Meche, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, and sister, Sally LeJeune of Iota.


Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. Rev. Timothy Goodly is to officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
