James Dennis Cummings, 66, a resident of Lake Charles passed from this life on July 5, 2018 in a local hospital.

Dennis was a loving and kind-hearted man who provided well for his wife and children. He was a loving father, husband, brother, and friend. In his spare time, he loved fishing, especially fishing with his grandchildren, entertaining the crowd wherever he was, and watching sports of any type. Through his work, Dennis travelled extensively around the world. He knew no strangers and built and sustained strong friendships for many years.

He is predeceased by his parents, Dudley and Frances Sims Cummings, one brother, Michael Cummings, and his father-in-law Roland Johnson.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Roxanne Johnson Cummings, three daughters; Heather Thurston, Kirsty Cummings, and Summer Benoit, grandchildren; Hallie, Tyler, Chase, and Lexxie, great grandson: Leo-James, sisters; Sharron Cobb and husband Ken and Tammy Logan and husband Bill, niece; Tiffany Richard, nephews; Travis Coleman, and Ethan and Garrett Logan a host of other nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends he made on his journey through life.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to: Johnny Johnson, Jr, Terry Johnson, Debra Parrish, Lydia Stanley, Kenny Johnson, Steven Moe, and Leslie Hensley and their significant others, his loving mother-in-law Charlotte Johnson, for their care, compassion, love, and treating Dennis as their own flesh and blood.
