Obituary for Marjorie Oehler

Marjorie Clark Oehler Koehl, 93, passed from this life onto her eternal reward on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in the comfort of her home.

Marjorie was a loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend. She opened Western Play School, the first licensed day care in Lake Charles. She will be remembered as a force within her family and possessed a strong but loving will. She was a tireless advocate for people with disabilities. In her spare time, she was an avid game player. She loved shopping, playing cards, dominos, bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren and friends. She was a devoted Christian and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

She is predeceased by her parents, Orville and Frankie Clark, daughter, Linda Jo Pontiff, her two husbands, Max Oehler and Bill Koehl Sr., and six siblings.

Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Maxine Hart Schultz, Joy Dyer McDaniel and husband Dave, step-son; Bill Koehl, sister; Ruth Smith, five grandchildren: Johnnie Dyer, Nikki Woodcock, Robbie Dyer, Brandie Dering, and Kelli Diamond, seventeen great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and lifelong friends including Roger Armalin.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 9:00 AM until time of service. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Rev. John Hoffpauir is to officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
