Clifford Alonzo VanSlyke, Jr. 88, a resident of Lake Charles of Lake Charles passed from this life on May 16, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

“Jr” or “Van” as he was known was formerly a grocer. He never met a stranger and always had a kind word.

He was predeceased by his parents Clifford Alonzo VanSlyke, Sr. and Hazel Rossler VanSlyke, Son, Roger Dale VanSlyke, brothers, Woodrow VanSlyke, Glen VanSlyke, and sisters, Margaret Haymark and Velma Robertson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Hazel Winn VanSlyke, daughter Debbie VanSlyke and his cat Ginger.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 4 PM unit 8 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday at the funeral home from 8 AM until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Rev. Ronnie Estes is to officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
