Obituary for Brenda Darlene Loftin (Long)

Brenda Darlene Long Loftin, 74, a resident of Lake Charles passed from this life on May 4, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.

Brenda was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and sister. She loved cooking for her family and was a perfectionist when it came to preparing meals. She took great pride in her appearance and was meticulous in everything she did. She felt birthdays were very important and always made a point to call and sing “Happy Birthday” and this will be greatly missed.

She is predeceased by her parents William Robert Long and Sabra Emma Hutches Long, brother, Robert Long, and half-sister, Veda Walker.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 48 years, Richard Harland Loftin, daughters, Veronica Self Flippo and husband Donny, and Harla Michelle Loftin, sons; Richard “Ricky” Harland Loftin, II and wife Christine, and Shane Watson Loftin; her siblings: Cedric Long, Joyce Schmeltz, Otis Long, Shirley LeDoux, Sybil Haymon, Danita LeBleu, W.R. Long, Connie Long, Judy Eccles, Russel Long, and Ruth Fruge; fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and god daughter, Allyson Fruge Lindsey.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 6 PM until 9 PM and again on Monday from 8 AM until time of service in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Pastor Donny Flippo is to officiate. Burial will follow at Birds Nest Cemetery.
