Roger Dale VanSlyke, 55, a resident of Lake Charles, LA passed form this life on February 3, 2016 in a local care facility.

Roger was a loving son, brother, and friend. He was a person of strong faith and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Roger was his mother’s best friend and spent countless hours spending time with her and being her handyman. He was a devoted Elvis Presley fan and loved following the Dallas Cowboys and the LSU Tigers. He was formerly a member of the Glad Tidings Orchestra and was very passionate about music.

He is predeceased by his grandparents, Huby and Edna Winn, and C.A. Vanslyke, Sr. and wife Hazel.

Roger leaves to cherish his memory his father Clifford VanSlyke and mother Hazel Winn VanSlyke, sister Debbie Vanslyke, and numerous aunts and uncles.



Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4 PM until 9 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the sanctuary of Lake City Baptist Church from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Revs. Ronnie Estes and Gary Evers are to officiate. Burial will follow at Consolate Cemetery.
