Obituary for Dorothy Mae Thompson (Marks)

Dorothy Mae Marks Thompson, 88, a resident of Lake Charles passed from this life on November 11, 2017 in the comfort of her home.

“Dot” as she was affectionately known will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an avid McNeese and New Orleans Saints Fan. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, camping, and cool brisk weather. “Dot” was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles where she was a member of the choir and readily professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Mrs. Thompson is predeceased by her parents; Alfred Porter Marks and Elda Marie Young Marks; husband, Quentin Melvin Thompson, and son Robert Thompson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter; Linda Thompson Weldon and husband Louis; son, Kenneth Thompson, Debbie Thompson; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and her dear friend and neighbor Charlie Buller.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 8 a.m. until time of service. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. Dr. Johnny Dammon is to officiate. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice, LA.
