Carolyn Jo Colter (Baur)
Carolyn Baur Colter, 93, a native of Monroe, LA and resident of Lake Charles died peacefully at a local care facility surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Colter will be remembered as loving mother, wife, grandmother, and strong-willed person who was always on the go. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and refinishing furniture. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Colter attended Neville High School in Monroe, LA and went on to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught for several years before marrying the love of her life Charles Ray Colter and starting their family.
Carolyn is predeceased by; her husband of 62 years, Charles Ray Colter; parents, Tony and Zola Jones Baur; brothers, Buster, Jimmy, and Charles Baur; and sister, Evelyn B. Smith.
Mrs. Colter leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Casey Colter, daughter, Colleen Dykes and husband Hugh , grandchildren, Amanda Jo Gardner and Adam Touchet, great grandchildren, Jacob Touchet, Reagan Locklear, and Austin Case Gardner.
Family will receive friends at 1 PM Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the sanctuary of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM the Sanctuary of Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of which she is a Charter Member. Rev. Nannette Cagney is to officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home.
