Richard Allen Whitney, 51, a native of Glenmora and resident of Moss Bluff passed from this life on October 17, 2016 surrounded by those he loved.

Rick or "Gravy" as he was affectionately known was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a truck driver and an amazing provider for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Rick is predeceased by his father Cornelius Whitney, three brothers, and two sisters.

Mr. Whitney leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bonnie Whitney, son Allen Free and wife Marilyn of Dry Prong, LA, stepson Chris and stepdaughter Megan of Moss Bluff, two brothers, Joe Whitney, and Dale Whitney, three sisters, Marie Whitney Fite, Gail Whitney Bowman, and Judy Beauvis Barbier, and one granddaughter Layla Grace, grandson, Ethan, in-laws Leland and Gerry Broussard and mother Clara Moore.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, October 21, 2016 in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home from 10 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Rev. Theron Watson is to officiate. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.

The family would like to express their heart felt gratitude to their Hospice Family, Connie Blankenship, Anita Malone Lane, and Theron Watson.
