Obituary for
Mitchell D. Sonnier
Mitchell Dane Sonnier of Vinton, LA was born in Abbeville, LA on December 18, 1943. He went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2016 at the age of 72.
Mitchell proudly completed six years of Military service in the United States Air Force serving State Side and in Europe. Mitchell was a self-taught musician and passed on his knowledge and love for music to his children and grandchildren. Before moving back to Louisiana, Mitchell served the city of Biloxi as a dedicated and proud firefighter. His desire to be of service was reflected in the numerous friendships he formed which lasted until his passing.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Moise Sonnier and Enite Lormand Sonnier, his brothers Lenwood, Robert, and Rudy Wayne Sonnier.
Mitchell is surviuved by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Cherota Sonnier, his three children Michelle Sonnier Jacquet (Albert) of Biloxi, MS, Mitchell Dane Sonnier Jr. (Fiance Tricie Soulos) of Houston, TX, and Lenwood Drew Sonnier of Vinton, eleven loving grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sisters, Connie Domingue and Margie Meaux, and one brother Tommy Sonnier.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 23, 2016 at noon in the sanctuary of Crossroads Baptist Church on Highway 109 in Vinton, LA. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11:00 AM. Mr. Sonnier’s Cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Amedysis Hospice especially his nurses, Ashley Bellow and Vicky Neely for their love, care, and friendship.
