Robert “Bob” Richard Layfield, 88, a resident of Sulphur, LA passed from this life on May 18, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones.

Bob will be remembered as a loving father and husband. He was a faithful member of New Destiny Assembly of God Church. After retiring from Firestone, he enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. His hobbies were radio controlled air planes, fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing his guitar.

Mr. Layfield is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie (Larkin) Layfield and his first wife and mother of his children, Carol (Geis) Layfield.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sylvia McClenny Layfield, daughters, Susan Sturgeon and husband Phillip and Sandra Layfield, two sons, William R. Layfield and wife Cathy, and Scott Layfield and wife Harriet, step children, Charla Stoppel and husband Roy, Deborah West and husband Larry, Donald E. Robinson, Jr. and Dale Robinson and wife Alex, brother, Rollie Layfield and wife Frankie, six grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on May 27, 2016 at 6PM in the sanctuary of New Destiny Assembly of God Church in Sulphur, 4900 Highway 27 Sulphur, LA 70663. Cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
