Obituary for
Melissa Dawn Harvel (Simonson)
Melissa Dawn Harvel, 50, a resident of Lake Charles passed from this life on April 3, 2016 in a local hospital.
Lisa lived her life to the fullest. She did what she wanted and didn't let anyone tell her otherwise. She lived by the golden rule and instilled in her children a fiery passion for justice and the wit to disarm any opponent who dared to tell them they were wrong when they knew they were right. Nobody could argue quite like Ms. Lisa and you could always count on her to be brutally honest with you. She was one-of-a-kind. You'll never find another woman that you could trust to represent you legally AND fix your vehicle. She could do absolutely anything she set her mind to and nobody even bothered telling her differently because they all knew she could. She never ceased to amaze until her dying day. Lisa was unapologetically Lisa. A real woman that could still be one of the guys even better than most men. She was an invaluable asset to all who knew her and we were truly blessed to know her.
Lisa is predeceased by her mother, Joyce Reynolds Simonson, son, Brandon Johnson, brothers, Rick and Anthony Simonson, and sister Teena Simonson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Grover Harvel, two sons, Michael Johnson of Columbus, OH, and Timothy Johnson and wife Katina also of Columbus, OH, three daughters, Brandi Johnson and husband Joshua of Iowa, LA, Brittany Johnson and husband Dara Sann of Columbus, OH, and Emily Harvel of Lake Charles, LA, brother Michael Simonson of Buckeye Lake, OH and eight grandchildren: Liberty Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kaito Sann, Mikaela Johnson, Miranda Savoy, Joshua Savoy, Jr., and Tesla Savoy.
Mrs. Harvel’s Cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home.
